Dribbble
Publish a shot to Dribbble with a 400x300 or 800x600 picture, a title, a description and tags. What to register with Dribbble.
Staqly publishes shots to a Dribbble account through API v2: it signs in with OAuth 2.0 and
uploads the shot with POST /shots. Dribbble makes the shot shortly after; a published target
links to it on dribbble.com.
What you need
A Dribbble application, registered once per server. Its keys go into the server's environment
(.env), the same way locally and in the cloud; a workspace can also use its own app (see
Developer apps). Registering is self-service; Dribbble's
API terms allow posting on a person's behalf when they ask
for it, as a scheduled post does.
Create the app
At dribbble.com/account/applications/new, register an application with:
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Callback URL | your dashboard's /channels/callback/dribbble, for example http://localhost:8080/channels/callback/dribbble locally or https://staqly.example.com/channels/callback/dribbble |
Copy its Client ID and Client Secret.
Give staqly the keys
Put them in the server's environment and restart it:
PROVIDER_DRIBBBLE_CLIENT_ID=your-client-id
PROVIDER_DRIBBBLE_CLIENT_SECRET=your-client-secret- Docker:
docker run ... --env-file .env ghcr.io/staqly/staqly:latest, or-e PROVIDER_DRIBBBLE_CLIENT_ID=.... - Binary: export both in your shell, then run
staqly serveorstaqly service install(the service keepsPROVIDER_*settings).
Until both are set, Dribbble shows as soon in Channels → Add channel.
PROVIDER_DRIBBBLE_ENABLED=false hides it altogether.
Connect the account
Connect with Dribbble opens dribbble.com, where the person signs in and allows the app. Staqly
asks for the scopes public (read the profile) and upload (create shots). Dribbble's sign-in does
not expire; it lasts until the person revokes it.
Only accounts Dribbble lets upload shots can publish (Dribbble opens uploading to new accounts itself, and teams post as their members): connecting an account that can't fails and says so.
Limits
| Media | exactly one picture: JPEG, PNG or GIF, up to 8 MB, exactly 400x300 or 800x600 pixels (crop it in the media editor) |
| Title | required |
| Description | the post's text, up to 1,000 characters |
| Tags | the post's tags, up to 12 |
| Requests | Dribbble allows 60 a minute and 1,440 a day per account |
Videos can't be posted: Dribbble's API does not take them.
Settings per post
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
Title (title) | The shot's title |
Over the API: {"title": "Club poster"} in the target's settings.
Comments
Dribbble's API cannot comment, so a post's thread is not sent to Dribbble.
When publishing fails
| Dribbble says | Staqly does |
|---|---|
| The sign-in was revoked (401) | Marks the channel Needs reconnect and fails the target; reconnect it from the row's menu |
| Rate limit (429), Dribbble unavailable (5xx) | Retries through the job queue (after 1, 5, then 15 minutes) |
| A picture of the wrong size, a refused field (422), an account that may not upload (403) | Fails the target with Dribbble's reason; retrying would not help, so it does not |
When staqly sent a shot but its answer never came, it looks among the account's latest shots for one with the same title: if it is there, that is the shot; if not, the target fails with "may have published" instead of trying again. Check the profile before you post it again.
Tumblr
Publish text, pictures and a video to any of your Tumblr blogs, with the post's tags. What to register with Tumblr and how picking blogs works.
Google Business Profile
Publish updates with a photo and a button to a Google Business Profile location (formerly Google My Business). What to register in the Google Cloud console and what Google must approve.
