Lemmy
Publish posts with a title, a link or a picture to a Lemmy community, with the thread as comments.
Staqly publishes to Lemmy communities as your Lemmy account. You sign in once with your username and password; staqly keeps only the login token Lemmy returns, not your password. There is nothing for whoever runs staqly to register. A published target links to the post on your server.
Connect the account
In Channels → Add channel → Lemmy, enter:
| Field | What |
|---|---|
| Server | the Lemmy server your account is on, for example https://lemmy.world |
| Username or email | what you sign in with |
| Password | your password; used once |
| Two-factor code | only if your account uses two-factor authentication: the current code from your app |
The channel shows your display name, @username@server and picture. The login token lasts until you
change your password or log out of all sessions on Lemmy; the channel then turns Needs reconnect.
Staqly speaks Lemmy's API of version 0.19.
Limits
| Title | required, up to 200 characters |
| Text | 10,000 characters; may be empty (a title alone is a post) |
| Media | one picture, uploaded to your server |
Settings per post
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
Title (title) | The post's title (required) |
Community (community) | Where it goes: name@server, for example technology@lemmy.world. Your server fetches a community it doesn't know yet |
Link (link) | Makes it a link post; with a picture, the picture is the link's thumbnail |
Over the API: {"title": "Release notes", "community": "technology@lemmy.world", "link": "https://example.com/notes"}.
Comments
A post's thread goes out as comments under the post, each answering the one before. Comments take text only.
When publishing fails
| Lemmy says | Staqly does |
|---|---|
| The login token is no longer valid | Marks the channel Needs reconnect and fails the target; reconnect with your password |
| Rate limit, the server is down | Retries through the job queue (after 1, 5, then 15 minutes) |
| The community doesn't exist, only moderators may post, you are banned | Fails the target with Lemmy's reason |
Lemmy has no way to ask "did this post go out?", so when staqly sent the post but its answer never came, the target fails with "may have published" instead of trying again: check the community before you post it again.
